Truth About Cancer Data

Erika Schwartz, M.D By Thursday, 08 September 2016 04:40 PM EDT Current | Bio | Archive

Statistical data manipulation is the name of the game.

For example, inclusion of entities like DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ, the most common type of noninvasive breast cancer) and other noninvasive tumors that never progress or spread, are ways for our present cancer industrial complex to pretend we are making any progress.

If you include these self-contained, non-threatening tumors in the registry, it appears that we are making progress because fewer people die.

Another way to confuse and lie to the medical profession and the public is to transfer terminal patients out of major cancer centers before they die so the statistics for the facility look better.

The fact is, the mainstay treatments we use for cancer — surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation — cause cancer.

Most people who die with a diagnosis of cancer do not die of the disease, but of side effects from the treatments.

Still, we refuse to change direction for research to focus more on prevention, and see what we can do to prevent cancer in our lives.

Instead of changing, we scare and intimidate everyone into more tests in search of cancers we don’t even know what to do with (but pretend to).
