When Fatigue Strikes in the Afternoon

Erika Schwartz, M.D By Friday, 11 September 2020 04:34 PM EDT Current | Bio | Archive

Many patients complain about fatigue in the afternoon, but the reasons for it are easily resolved.

People who work in front of a computer for hours get bored and tired. So getting up every hour or two and walking around the room or the block will improve energy levels. You don’t need coffee.

Sitting at a desk all day or in meetings also can cause you to fall asleep and feel fatigued.

Grabbing a candy bar or an energy drink is not the way to go. Instead, change positions, or get down on the floor and do 10 sit-ups or push-ups.

Energy breeds energy so the more you move, the more likely you are to feel invigorated, not tired.
