Healthy Diet, Vitamin C Prevent Flu

Maintaining a healthy immune system is the best thing that you can do to prevent getting the flu.

The first step is to eat a healthy diet. Avoid refined food, especially refined sugar, which has been shown to disrupt the functioning of the white blood cells, responsible for fighting off viruses and other infectious agents.

Next, it is crucial to maintain adequate hydration. I can’t stress enough how important it is to drink enough water.

To make sure you’re getting enough, simply take your weight in pounds, divide by two and drink that amount in ounces per day.

The most important antiviral supplement you can take is vitamin C. We cannot manufacture vitamin C in our bodies, so we must consume enough in our diets or take a supplement.

I suggest 3,000 to 5,000 mg per day when healthy.

If you become ill with the flu, immediately increase the dose to 10,000 mg.

Other helpful nutrients to prevent the flu include iodine, alpha lipoic acid, and vitamins A and D.

Finally, simple hand-washing and avoiding sick people can greatly lessen your chances of getting the flu.
