Vitamin B12 and Brain Function

Wednesday, 21 August 2013 10:22 AM EDT

Vitamin B12 is necessary for proper brain function. Sadly, vitamin B12 deficiency is occurring in increasing numbers in our country, partially due to the fact that our food supply is woefully deficient in vitamins and minerals.

Recent studies have correlated declines in B12 with memory problems and a decline in brain volume. I have seen many children and adults diagnosed with ADHD significantly improve their brain function with vitamin B12.

For children, sublingual doses of natural vitamin B12 are adequate — either hydroxy- or methylcobalamine are adequate. For adults, the same forms of B12 in injection form are more effective.

More information about vitamin B12 can be found in my book, Vitamin B12 for Health.
