Nationwide Hummus Recall Issued Over Listeria

By    |   Thursday, 09 April 2015 02:59 PM EDT

The Sabra Dipping Co. is recalling 30,000 cases of hummus products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall includes the following products: Sabra Classic Hummus (10 ounces and 17-ounce packages), Sabra Classic Hummus Without Garnish (32 ounce package), Hummus Dual Pack Classic/Garlic (23.5 ounces).

Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne microbe that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

To date, there have been no reports of any illnesses caused by the products in question, the company said.

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information: 1-888-957-2272.
