Criticizing President Donald Trump is so commonplace for many in the media, and sometimes deserved, but too often they don’t acknowledge his success and their own missteps, mistakes and misstatements – choosing instead to proclaim the president is lacking in competence. But the facts show President Trump took decisive action to fight the Chinese Coronavirus early on and drew praise from the very doctor that the left and the right respects.

Trump declared the China travel ban on January 31, exactly one-month after China reported it discovered a new disease on December 31, 2019, despite having to deal with a partisan impeachment trial until February 5. The ban came 14 days after America saw its first case of Coronavirus and one day after Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization, said, “there is no reason for measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade. WHO doesn’t recommend limiting trade and movement.”

I am glad Trump did not listen to him.

Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, went into attack-mode on the day Trump announced the ban by tweeting, “now, (Trump’s) adding more countries to his list of who’s not welcome in America. It’s not who we are – and we’ll prove that when we beat Trump this November and end the ban.” It appears Biden would rather put his dislike of the president ahead of the health and safety of US citizens.

Thankfully, Dr. Anthony Stephen Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, now sings a different tune.

“One of the things we did right was very early cut off travel from China to the United States,” Fauci told MSNBC last week. “Because outside of China, where it originated, the countries in the world that have it are through travel, either directly from China or indirectly from someone who went someplace and then came to that particular country. Our shutting off travel from China and, more recently, travel from Europe, has gone a long way to not seeding very, very intensively the virus in our country.”

Despite the scientific facts, Biden repeatedly berated President Trump on his handling of the Coronavirus pandemic as many medical experts said President Trump is doing a good job.

And Biden was relentless, maybe because he helped his son get a hundred-million-plus dollar deal with China:

• Despite media reports about not restocking the nation’s emergency supply of medical supplies, including N95 masks, when his administration as Vice President was warned, Biden tweeted on March 9, “When I’m president, we will be better prepared, respond better and recover better.”
• Claims repeatedly that using “China” to designate the origin of the virus is racist and xenophobic even though the media openly used the same terminology. (I have spoken at national events on the threat of Chinese counterfeiting, consulted for the US Mint and am on the National Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force – no one has ever suggested talking about the dangers of counterfeits originating in China is racist.)
• Maintained until mid-March there was no “evidence” the travel bans were effective even though scientific experts disagreed.
• Claims that President Trump is the “worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency” even though Biden got the key travel ban argument horribly wrong.

Where was the mainstream media in discussing this very important difference between Biden and President Trump?

With all the very important things President Trump has done right regarding the nation’s response and travel restrictions because of the Coronavirus outbreak, where would America be if Biden was in charge? We wouldn’t have stopped over one million possibly infected travelers from entering the country from China – at least, not until March 12, 2020. My prediction is we would have an even greater number of people die from this virus and certainly a higher number of infections, which is exactly what Dr. Fauci expressed. Let that sink in when you cast your vote this November for President.

One last thought, for those thinking that President Trump wasn’t taking this seriously early on, this is what Dr. Fauci said about the Chinese Coronavirus on January 23, “The risk to the United States for this to be a big problem or even a problem at all is very low. That doesn’t mean we should not take it seriously. We are taking it very seriously. All the various agencies that are involved in the federal government response is taking this very seriously. But the message to the general public is that this is something that you should not be worrying about at night that this is going to be some sort of serious issue for you.”

Now, he is praising President Trump for implementing a travel ban on tourists from China only eight days later, on January 31.
