President Donald Trump suggested on Twitter Friday that his push for trade tariffs was having a positive effect, noting that "Aluminum prices are DOWN 4%."

His positive message came just hours after an unexpected annoucement that he was upping the ante on trade with China, ordering U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to consider placing $100 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese goods.
