An economist who holds a Nobel Prize doesn't think President Donald Trump deserves credit for America's booming stock market.
Paul Krugman spoke with Business Insider and explained why there isn't anything "Trumpian" regarding the current state of the economy.
"The economy's pretty good. It looks like close to full employment, although we don't know why wages aren't rising more," Krugman said. "There hasn't really been any policy change.
"And the convention, usually when people try to assess the economic impact of administrations, is to assume that the first year reflects the policies of the previous administration. So there's nothing that is Trumpian about what's going on."
Krugman noted that job growth has been ongoing for several years.
"The thing is, the economy's been adding jobs at a steady rate for years now. The rate of increase is leveling off," he said. "The curve is bending downwards. You can't see any Trump effect in there."
