NY Auto Show Pushes Electricity, Horsepower to Limit

The 2019 New York Auto Show promises to shine the spotlight on a number of important new cars and crossover SUVs, and automakers from Cadillac to Toyota are teasing the important new vehicles.

Whether you’re in the market for a new sports sedan or a family crossover, or you’re simply a die-hard car enthusiast the latest production and concept vehicles will presented.

The most impressive vehicle at the show is the Rivian, the world's first electric adventure brand. It offers beautiful interiors with extremely fast and capable on and off road performance. NY is going electric but it doesn't have to be boring. Rivian competes with Land Rover rather than Tesla.

The Rivian electric adventure vehicle manufacturers and R1S, a 7-passenger SUV and a 5-passenger pickup truck, the R1T, both with a 400 mile range. The quad-motor creates and AWD system the zooms from 0-60 in 3.0 seconds. Both will be built at Rivian's manufacturing facility in Normal, IL. Potential buyers can order one noes and take delivery in late 2020.

Speaking of electric, Genesis presented the Mint concept, it plans to prove that luxury doesn’t have a size! This seal 2-seater premium, lightweight two-door EV for the city.

It will offer a 200 mile range and can charge to 80% capacity in 20 minutes. The MINT Concept is the perfect size for the modern city driver, purposeful but casual, with butterfly-style rear doors for easy stowage of personal items.

Another option that can be ordered for a sportier feel is the QIANTU K50 by Mullen USA. Pronunciation: CHI - AN - TWO, in Mandarin it means - the road ahead. This pure electric high-performance sports car is built in Southern California. Electric range of 250 mile - 78 KwH - 402hp equivalent. The fluid beautiful design balances strength and presence with luxury and style. The sculpted carbon-fiber body adds a futuristic element and is available in 6 colors. Mullen has began taking reservations now. Prices starts at $150K

Some other highlights that are more usable across the country include:

Lincoln Corsair. The Corsair follows the “quiet flight design”. The Corsair will be produced in Louisville, Kentucky and in China. two engine options 2L, 250 hp / 275 torque or the 2.3L, 280hp / 310 torque with the Corsair Grand Touring (PHEV) coming soon after. All Corsairs will be AWD with sensors that monitor traction and different drive modes for all conditions. Top safety will be standard with Co-pilot 360 or optional plus with traffic jam assist, lane centering, evasive steer assist, and active park assist plus.

There is so much more in audio with the Rebel Audio system and cool technology like the Lincoln your “Phone is the Key”.

Cadillac CT5. The third generation CTS sedan, is replaced by the CT5. This car, new for the 2020 model year, should also be the successor for the smaller ATS and China's extended wheelbase ATS-L. In North America, there will be turbocharged 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre engines, each linked to a ten-speed automatic transmission. There are reports claiming that the ATS Coupe will have a successor based on the CT5.

Jaguar XE - the updated Jaguar XE, the entry level sedan, is a newly refreshed model featuring an enhanced exterior design; all-new luxurious interior featuring new materials and layout; new advanced infotainment and drivers’ assistance technologies. On sale this summer and priced from $39,900
