President-elect Donald Trump economic adviser Stephen Moore told Newsmax TV on Thursday that the fastest way to end Obamacare is to "get rid of the mandates" and provide vouchers so Americans can shop for their own coverage.

"Get rid of the employer mandate, the mandated benefits," Moore, a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "All that stuff, in other words, that you can pick apart in ways that don't allow anyone to lose their insurance.

"I would just give vouches to people to go out and buy whatever healthcare they want to, especially for low-income people on Medicaid," he added. "Medicaid is a disaster,' said Moore, also a Newsmax Finance Insider.

"Why not just give people, say, a $5,000 or $6,000 voucher — and they go out and buy a good health plan that they want and increase competition?

"That's the most important thing."
