The U.S. will review its military and economic aid to Egypt in the wake of clashes between the government of President Hosni Mubarak and protesters, an administration official said.
More than 80 percent of U.S. aid to Egypt, or $1.3 billion, is in the form of military assistance, according to data supplied by the U.S. State Department. Egypt is the fourth largest recipient of American aid after Afghanistan, Pakistan and Israel.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the review hasn’t been formally announced.
