Fewer people are traveling to the United States from international destinations, according to new government data.

The Hill cited figures from the National Travel and Tourism Office, which shows a 3.9 percent drop in international visitors from June 2016 to June 2017.

Other key figures in the data:

• The number of international travelers arriving in the U.S. was 8.3 percent lower in March 2017 than it was in March 2016.
• The number of international travelers arriving in the U.S. was 8.5 percent lower in May 2017 than it was in May 2016.
• There was an increase of 7 percent in April 2017 vs. April 2016.
• 9.4 percent fewer people legally entered the U.S. from Mexico in the first six months of this year vs. the same time period in 2016.

The Trump administration has tried to stop people from certain countries with a terror presence from coming to the U.S. via executive orders. The directives were partially shot down by the courts.

On the other hand, several countries have issued warnings to their citizens to exercise caution when traveling to the U.S. USA Today reported in August that some of the reasons for the warnings included mass shootings, police violence, anti-Muslim and anti-LGBT sentiment, and the Zika virus.
