President Donald Trump hinted at an ever-improving economy Thursday, citing strong holiday season retail sales.
Trump posted this on Twitter from Florida, where he is spending some downtime for the holiday season:
It was reported this week that holiday season sales have totaled more than $800 billion. The success is being enjoyed at online stores and traditional brick-and-mortar locations.
After all the numbers are tallied, it's likely the holiday season shopping total will exceed the forecasted 3.8 percent jump from 2016.
MasterCard Senior Vice President Sarah Quinlan said, "Overall, this year was a big win for retail. The strong U.S. economy was a contributing factor, but we also have to recognize that retailers who tried new strategies to engage holiday shoppers were the beneficiaries of this sales increase."
