I’ve been saying it. Nobody bothered to listen. When I brought up things such as facts, and statistics, nobody cared. People said: Dan, Obama made a promise to the American people not to raise taxes in any way whatsoever on people making less than $200,000 per year. He’s not going to break it.
Promises. Promises. Promises.
Well just this past weekend, two of Obama’s top economic advisers, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council Director Larry Summers, started to prepare middle-class America for the blow.
Obama will raise your taxes.
Guised in the cloud of helping to lower the deficit, the same deficit that Obama has ballooned to the tune of $1.8 trillion, Geithner and Summers alluded that to lower the deficits, the middle class has to be taxed.
This brings me back to something I’ve been trying to tell America. You can’t expect to more than triple the federal deficit and expect only 5 percent of the U.S. population to pay for it. Tax the rich just doesn’t work. It’s unrealistic.
Everybody was for Obama’s big government spending when they didn’t have to pay for it. Tax the rich. That will solve everything.
But when you now include middle-class America, and tell them that they have to pay for Obama’s massive new spending, I think we may see some change of opinion.
Obama has tried to make America into a nation where the people are dependent on the government. Obama has passed out $600 tax rebate checks, and has increased the size of government entitlement programs through his $800 billion stimulus.
According to the government’s Web site — recovery.gov — only $60.4 billion of the stimulus money has been paid out so far, the majority of which has been spent on short-term projects, Social Security recipients, selective tax relief, and entitlement programs.
According to the IRS, there are now more voters who do not pay taxes than those who do pay taxes. Americans are now becoming dependent on government handouts.
Well, if 51 percent of the people do not pay taxes, that means that 49 percent of the people do pay taxes. If the rich only constitute 5 percent of the population, that means that 44 percent of the population, the middle-class, are going to have to pay the bill for the 51 percent that chooses to receive government assistance.
America has gone from a nation of taxpayers to a nation of government recipients. Obama knows this. He knows that you get elected with 51 percent and not 49 percent of the vote. That is why taxing the middle-class is not a big deal to the Obama administration anymore. The Obama administration doesn’t need the middle-class to get elected.
Also the more you tax the middle-class, the less there will be a middle-class.
If you are a middle-class family and you get taxed more, so much that you are unable to pay your bills on your own, well then you will move into the 51 percent category, the category that Obama administration wants to move more and more Americans into, the category of Americans who are dependent on the government for financial assistance.
Obama knows that you don’t bite the hand that feeds you. So if Obama giveth, you should know better than to vote against him for a second term, and maybe even a third term if some people get their way.
Obama also made another pledge, and that was to get rid of bribes to politicians in Washington, D.C. The pledge that he didn’t make was that he wouldn’t bribe the American people with a little government assistance.
So when taxpayers wake up and find that they have to pay the bill for trillions in new spending, just remember, Obama doesn’t need you anymore. He has his 51 percent and in a majority-rules society, the numbers win.
Sounds like a great way to get re-elected for Obama. Sounds like bad news for all American taxpayers.
