Label Chief Defends Swift's Grammy Performance

Thursday, 04 February 2010 08:51 AM EST

The head of Taylor Swift's record label is fired up and ready to defend his superstar from critics of her Grammy-night performance.

Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta says Swift "is the voice of this generation."

He adds: "This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator."

Borchetta says there was a technical problem with the volume on Swift's earpiece. He says Swift "wasn't able to hear everything in the mix."
