Gaten Matarazzo, a star on the Netflix show "Stranger Things," is helping grow a non-profit foundation for people who have cleidocranial dysplasia, Fox13 reported.
CCD is a condition that primarily affects development of the bones and teeth. Matarazzo, 15, was born with it and wants to help others who can't afford treatment.
"After the show came out, a lot of people were contacting me, letting me know that they had cleidocranial dysplasia. And then those people who were contacting me contacted each other, and then it just was just like a chain reaction," Gaten said.
CCD Smiles, based in Utah, was created by Dr. Kelly Wosnik. Matarazzo and his father helped make it a nonprofit organization.
On Friday, Matarazzo visited with nine people in Utah who have CCD, including Stephanie Munoz, who has never had a full set of teeth.
"Once I turned 18, I lost my insurance and the dentures never fit, so I went the whole 12 years with no teeth in," she said.
Matarazzo and CCD Smiles are going to change that.
"This is going to be the first real big donation," Matarazzo said.
