Ben Stein accused Hollywood of being "a bunch of bullies and thugs trying to shut down anybody who doesn't agree with them" and a "one party, one policy" state following Nicole Kidman’s comments that Americans should support President-elect Donald Trump.
"I live here in Hollywood and worked in Hollywood for many years and I still do," said Stein on Fox’s “Your World With Neil Cavuto,” on Saturday.
"Bravo for Ms. Kidman for standing up for what is right," he said. "He hasn't started to be president yet, so what can they disagree with?”
Kidman told BBC News last week that she’s never been one to comment on politics but that since he's elected, "we as a country need to support whoever is the president because that is what the country is based on. However that happened, he's there and let's go.”
Stein, an economist and actor, said being in Hollywood is tough for Republicans or anyone who disagrees with the status quo.
"You cannot go against the prevailing wisdom. You cannot go against the wisdom of the crowd or you're in real trouble. Nicole Kidman (would have) paid a price if she went any further than that," said Stein. "She would get screwed out of contracts and endorsements."
