ABC Wants $42,000 Ring Back After Vienna Dumps Jake

Wednesday, 23 June 2010 01:01 PM EDT

How’s this for kiss and tell: The bachelorette who won the bachelor’s heart laments that he kisses like her grandmother — and only for the cameras, as she tells it.

Add some he-says, she-says tension, and it's splitsville for the once-glowing couple of ABC's "The Bachelor" Season 14.

Although story lines duel over why Jake Pavelka is back in a bachelor pad — he says she cheated, while Vienna Girardi says they hadn’t been intimate in months — ABC is clear about one thing: The network wants the $42,000 ring back.

The ring belongs to the network, an ABC spokeswoman said, even as murmurs of “I told you so” echoed among the self-indulgent reality series’ fans, who didn’t like Vienna and were vocal in their disagreement with the airline pilot’s choice of her over Tenley Molzahn in the March 1 finale.

"The ring will go to production," the ABC spokeswoman confirmed, according to aceshowbiz.com.

Now that that’s settled, confusion abounds about why the two split.
Girardi’s alleged cheating with “Greek” star Gregory Michael during the weekend was the “last straw” amid building tension, US Weekly magazine reports.

The 24-year-old former Hooters waitress rebuts the very idea that she’s got a cheating heart, although she tells Star Magazine in an issue hitting the stands Friday that they hadn’t been intimate in months.

Pavelka’s occasional smooches were “like how I kiss my grandmother,” she sniffs in Star, after this comment: "He kisses me only if we're on a red carpet or if cameras are there."

His string of intimacy excuses, she claims, included the fact that “he felt that I wouldn't understand that he wants to wait until marriage, even though I told him I'd support him. Then the last excuse was that we fight so much that I push him away.”

The fighting alibi plays itself out in the he-says, she-says scenarios in the gossip magazines: He says she dumped him by phone, while her stepmom says Vienna left a Dear Jake note when she moved out of their love nest during the weekend.

Maybe fan fave Ali Fedotowsky will give Jake another chance, in light of their weepy parting when he let her slip through his fingers? Oh, wait, she’s courting her own disaster on “The Bachelorette.”
