Former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, a liberal Democrat was highly regarded and praised by womens groups as an advocate for them and for his support of the #MeToo movement’s war against violence and sexual misconduct against women.
All of that came tumbling down following a May 7 New Yorker magazine article vividly detailing his verbal and physical abuse against four women.
Three hours after that story was published Schneiderman resigned.
His so-called Democratic allies dropped him like rats running from a sinking ship.
Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand, D-N.Y., a #MeToo warrior who helped to run fomer Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., from the legislative body in which he served, while nursing fantasies of being president, said: "The violent actions described by multiple women in this story are abhorrent . . . I do not believe that Eric Schneiderman should continue to serve as attorney general.”
How embarrassed the feminist world and Democrats must be at the fall of their one-time hero? In an October 2010 press release, the National Organization for Women (NOW), of New York State, endorsed him in his successful bid for attorney general calling him a "true champion for women." NOW cited his "unmatched work" in "protecting women who are victims of domestic abuse."
Where are they now?
Schneiderman’s hypocrisy on protecting women from assault and unwanted sexual conduct is not the only example of the double standard many so-called liberal-Democratic progressives exhibit — racism is a close second.
According to The New Yorker article, Schneiderman called his Sri Lankan girlfriend his "brown slave" and wanted her to refer to him as "Master." "Sometimes, he’d tell me to call him Master, and he’d slap me until I did . . . He started calling me his 'brown slave' and demanding that I repeat that I was ‘his property."
Sounds a bit racist to me!
How could a liberal Democrat say or even think such a thing?
It's reminiscent of the days when white slave masters — mostly Democrats — felt they could insult, belittle, and have their sexual way with their black female slaves.
If Schneiderman is the poster boy for the two-faced hypocrisy of the liberal progressive Democratic left on women’s empowerment, Senate Democrats represent a "billboard" of such hypocrisy.
Just look at how usual so-called women’s advocates on the Senate Intelligence Committee did everything they could to discredit, destroy, and defile the reputation, and sink the nomination of Gina Haspel to head the CIA. This is what a true war on women looks like.
She would be the first woman and first career CIA officer to become director.
Ms. Haspel also has the support of every living former CIA Director.
Except for Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., who has announced he will vote for her confirmation, Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee — including two women — Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., didn’t care.
They did everything they could to verbally beat her down, stabbing her in the back.
They were a total disgrace.
They exhibited a lack of empathy, understanding, and regard for the memories of those who died on 9/11 — and their survivors.
Watching how they attacked Haspel, one could conclude that Senate Democrats act like 9/11 never occurred and America has nothing to fear from terrorists.
Given their attacks on Haspel and collective amnesia of history, I would not be surprised if these senators and their allies on the left and in the media really believe that we were wrong to kill Osama bin Laden.
Why all of this, as someone called it, "retroactive morality?"
The answer is simple — because she is a Trump nominee.
The heck with her historic candidacy — and qualifications. She is not one of them.
As Republicans on the committee pointed out, it was a hypocritical double standard.
Democrats pretend that they are attacking Haspel and she is unfit to lead the CIA because of her involvement in the so-called "torture" of terrorism suspects following 9/11, using waterboarding and other techniques.
That’s pure hogwash!
The same committee and many of the same Democrats attacking Haspel had no difficulty supporting President Obama’s nominee for the CIA, John Brennan.
He had been number four at the CIA. A much higher level than was held by Haspel, at the time when controversial waterboarding techniques were used.
As Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said, "The Democrats in the Senate simply cannot accept the fact that Donald Trump is the president."
Feinstein, Harris, and their fellow liberal Democrats should own up to their hypocrisy on empowering women and tell the truth. They only support women who are liberals, nominated by Democrat presidents, believe in same sex marriage and killing the unborn.
If you want to see Schneiderman-like betrayers of women’s empowerment in the U.S. Senate, just watch those who vote against the confirmation of this extremely qualified woman.
And these are many of the same people who call Republicans misogynists.
Senate Democrats may think that they are doing their base’s work in resisting Haspel and other Trump nominees, but they will pay a price in the midterms.
Americans are not as dumb as Democrats and the media think.
