Media Heighten Global Warming Hysteria

By    |   Tuesday, 05 February 2008 08:05 AM EST

The old adage that everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it is no longer true. If everybody includes the media, nobody in it talks about the weather, and a lot of people are trying to do something big about changing it.

The media, you see, prefers to talk about "the climate," support the efforts of those who claim the world must do something drastic about it, and castigate anybody who has the effrontery to dismiss the whole climate change thing as a dangerous hoax.

Talking about everyday weather round the globe would poke giant holes in their case for global warming and their insistence that drastic action must be taken to stop something that the evidence clearly shows is not happening.

This is nothing short of criminal conduct. Should the media get their way America will cease to be the land of the free, the economy will be deliberately scuttled, and the acolytes of Karl Marx will reign supreme. And the media will share much of the blame.

As for the major figures among the global warming alarmists such as Albert Gore their motives are more than suspect, their methods of advancing their cause blatantly dishonest, and their ultimate goal which the media shares, the coronation of a Marxist big brother.

In his book, "Liberal Fascism," Jonah Goldberg discusses the totalitarian mechanism the left employs to bulldoze all opposition to their various schemes and causes: the creation of crisis.

“It’s worth pointing out that a classic fascist mechanism is to create crisis so that everyone drops their objections to state action," Goldberg recently explained to me. "Everyone rallies around the state. This emphasis on crisis mechanism is a commonality in all fascist or just plain totalitarian regimes."

Global warming is the current manufactured crisis. To meet it we are told we must surrender our economic liberties to a global authority which will manage the economy and in the process, our way of living itself. Proposed legislation in Congress, for example, carries a price tag designed to send the free market economy, now already ailing, swirling down the drain, and empty our pockets with confiscatory tax policies.

The cries of crisis get louder and more panicky as opposition to his global warming alarm grows among scientists and the public. Listen to Gore in a recent speech insist that the crisis of global warming is . . . gasp . . . even worse than he thought.

To combat the global warming crisis, a lot of Draconian measures are proposed. Bill Clinton tells us we have to make sacrifices of the kind his wife Hillary may have been thinking about when she said "We're going to takes things away from you on behalf of the common good."

The media's complicity in this shameful scam is their adamant refusal to report anything that calls into question the claims of Mr. Gore and his followers, especially the weather.

Ask yourself how many stories you've seen in the media concerning the frigid weather Ma Nature is inflicting on the world. How many headlines, found almost solely on iceagenow.com have you read in the mainstream media:

  • 4 Feb 08 - Excerpt: "But for some reason the warmists are less keen on the latest satellite findings, reported by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on the website Cryosphere today by the University of Illinois. This body is committed to warmist orthodoxy and contributes to the work of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Yet its graph of northern hemisphere sea ice area, which shows the ice shrinking from 13,000 million sq km to just 4 million from the start of 2007 to October, also shows it now almost back to 13 million sq km."

  • Storm brings heavy snow falls across Japan — Road, rail and air services remained disrupted today after heavy snowfalls hit Japan over the weekend. Much of East Asia has been left reeling these last few weeks by a harsh blast of winter. For China it has led to the heaviest snowfall in a century. Over the weekend it was Japan’s turn to suffer as snow and freezing temperatures moved in across the country. The snow is said to be the heaviest to hit Japan this winter, affecting central and eastern parts of the country.

Travel became severely disrupted as the snow closed roads, delayed trains and eventually led to over a hundred flights being cancelled at Tokyo’s Haneda airport. Up to 200 people were reported to have been injured in weather related incidents. The snow came as a big surprise to Thailand’s football players who had arrived in Tokyo for a World Cup qualifier. More accustomed to tropical heat they woke to blizzards on Sunday morning and were forced to train indoors. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, up to 3cm of snow (1.2 inches) fell in central Tokyo. Around 5cm (2 inches) is said to have fallen in Yokohama, with as much as 25cm (10inches) in Kawaguchiko city. Further snow falls are expected across the country today.

  • Dozens killed in Iran blizzards. Jan 08 - At least 28 people are reported to have died in Iran's heaviest snowfall in recent years.Eight people froze to death as severe blizzards left 40,000 people stranded in their cars, authorities said.Although most have now been rescued, another 20 people are reported to have died in car crashes caused by the weather, officials said.Tehran has declared two days of national holiday, urging people to stay at home to avoid the bitter cold. The temperature has been down as low as -24 degrees Celsius, and for the first time in living memory there has been snow in the country's southern deserts.

  • Delhi reels under cold spell - 1 Feb 08

  • Cascade Snowfall 150 percent to 212 percent of normal – 3 Feb 08

  • U.S. Braces for another wave of storms – 30 Jan 08

  • 1,033 houses toppled by snow in China - Biggest ever snowfall in Yuexi County in the capital Hefei. Cuts off all highways in province of Shanxi

  • 20 Jan 08 - Heavy snow continued falling over large parts of China on the weekend. In Hubei, more than 1,000 km of highway, about half of the central province's roads, were closed since Saturday. The most serious snowfall since 1991, the snow also cut off all highways in the northern province of Shanxi. In eastern Anhui Province, heavy snow affected about 1.21 million people and damaged 87,000 hectares of farmland. Total crop failure was 6,700 hectares, according to a department official.Yuexi County in the capital Hefei saw its biggest ever snowfall exceeding 50 cm. A total of 1,033 houses in the province were toppled by snow. Highways in the northern part of the province were closed since Saturday. It was unknown when they would re-open.

  • In Tibet, progress to save the 25 people trapped in five vehicles on a highway in Zanda County was steady, said Hong Xuefeng, an official with the Ngari Prefecture. As depth in some areas has reached three to five meters (16 feet), the clean-up work is moving at a speed of one or two km per hour,' he said, adding that the stranded were just seven km (4.2 miles) away from the rescue team by 9 :50 p.m. Sunday and reported as in good condition.

It's criminal conduct to deliberately ignore the fact that all these frigid blasts are originating in the polar regions which Gore claims are warming, and thus presumably incapable of producing record breaking cold fronts of the sort we're experiencing worldwide. To report current weather developments as a whole casts doubt on Gore's claims, so the media avoids covering them as the worldwide phenomenon they are.
