Can a Catholic Vote for Death of the Unborn?

By    |   Tuesday, 28 October 2008 12:52 PM EDT

Let's get this out-of-the-way right now: No Catholic or pro-life Christian or Jew can, in good conscience, vote for Barack Obama.

Why?

Because he is dedicated to the proposition that all humans are not created equal if they happen to be in their mother's womb waiting to be born. In that case they are disposable.

In short, Barack Obama avidly supports the murder of unborn humans. And they are humans contrary to the baby butchers at Planned Parenthood. Even medical science says so.

As the eloquent and gifted Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver puts it, Obama "whatever his other talents, is the most committed 'abortion-rights' presidential candidate of either major party since the Roe v. Wade abortion decision in 1973."

That means that if Barack Obama has his way, the numbers of millions more unborn babies will be added to the 40 million already butchered since Roe v. Wade became the law of the land.

That sounds bad enough in the abstract, but what it really means is that countless numbers of innocent unborn human beings will continue to be put to death in the most grisly fashions, writhing in pain as they are sliced up in pieces and vacuumed from the alleged sanctity of their mother's womb, scalded to death, grabbed by the legs when fully developed and ready to be born, drawn out of the womb until their heads are accessible in the birth canal, and having scissors plunged into the back of their heads and their brains vacuumed out.

This last procedure — partial birth abortion — called by the late Democratic Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan as nothing short of infanticide was supported by Barack Obama when he voted against outlawing it when in the Illinois Senate. And if he imposes the Freedom of Choice act as promised, it will be legal in all 50 states.

I refuse to consider anybody's tender sensibilities in this matter, but if you are planning to vote for Barack Obama, you need to know what being "the most committed 'abortion-rights' presidential candidate of either major party since the Roe v. Wade abortion decision in 1973" really means.

It means supporting such atrocities as the so called dilation and evacuation (D&E) procedure which is done during the second trimester (four-six months) of pregnancy without any anesthetic to deaden the infant's excruciating pain as it is butchered.

A pliers-like tool is used to crush the baby's bones and skull which are calcified. The abortionist inserts it into the uterus, grabs a leg or other part of the body and, with a twisting motion, rips it out of the baby's body. This is repeated again and again as the infant is torn to pieces, bit by bit. In order to remove them, the spine must be cracked and the skull crushed. A nurse then re-assembles the body parts to be sure that none have been left in the mother’s womb.

Nice, huh?

Then there is the method called "candy apple babies" used after the first three months of pregnancy. The abortionist injects a strong salt solution directly into the fluid in the amniotic sac encasing the baby who breathes and swallows it and is poisoned, struggling and sometimes convulsing.

This horrendous procedure takes more than an hour to kill the baby, which is delivered in a day or two (sometimes still alive!).

The dead infants are called "candy apple" babies because the corrosive effect of the salt solution often burns and strips away the outer layer of the baby's skin leaving the raw, red, glazed-looking subcutaneous layer of tissue. As a result, the baby's head sometimes looks like a candy apple. The method has been compared to the effect of napalm on innocent war victims.

Guess where it originated? Nowhere else but in the concentration camps in Nazi Germany.

These are some of the atrocities you are approving if you vote for Barack Obama who is pledged to allow them to continue and even in some cases expand.

Obama, you see, has pledged that if elected, one of his first acts will be to implement the so-called the Freedom of Choice Act.

It would eliminate individual states’ rights to limit abortions of babies, including partial-birth abortion bans, mandatory parental notification of a teenager’s desire to abort, and any other conditions and limitations on abortions.

It might be better called the "abortion everywhere and forever act."

These are some of the reasons Archbishop Chaput instructs, "As adults, each of us needs to form a strong Catholic conscience. Then we need to follow that conscience when we vote. And then we need to take responsibility for the consequences of the vote we cast.

"Nobody can do that for us. That's why really knowing and living our Catholic faith is so important. It's the only reliable guide we have for acting in the public square as disciples of Jesus Christ."

He might have added that his advice applies equally to pro-life Christians and Jews. They too must form a strong conscience if they are to remain faithful to their beliefs.

Those Catholics who seek to excuse their vote for Obama by claiming that they believe his stands on such issues as health and welfare and the economy outweigh his abortion support ignore the reality that without the right to life no other rights are possible. You have to be alive to enjoy them.

As Chicago's Cardinal Francis George said recently, too many Americans have ''no recognition of the fact that children continue to be killed [by abortion], and we live therefore, in a country drenched in blood. This can't be something you start playing off pragmatically against other issues.''

Amen.

Just keep in mind: if you ignore these facts and warnings and Obama wins, your hands will be drenched with the blood of millions of unborn infants. Millions!

Sorry, but the fact that the truth hurts doesn't mean it should remain unspoken. Consider it spoken.

A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for death.
