Here are the Newsmax Rising Bestsellers for the week of March 9, 2020:

1. "Let the People Pick the President: The Case for Abolishing the Electoral College," by Jesse Wegman (St. Martin's Press). Wegman, a New York Times editorial board member, draws on the history of the nation's founding and interviews with Republican and Democratic campaign managers and other politicos to make a case for abolishing what he calls the "antiquated and antidemocratic" Electoral College.  (Non-fiction)
2. "Pearls of Wisdom: Little Pieces of Advice (That Go a Long Way)," by Barbara Bush (Twelve). The late first lady was famous for handing out advice to friends, family, heads of state, and even Supreme Court justices, dishing on from what to wear, what to say or not say, and how to live your life. The book poignantly reflects on life, love, family, and the world by one of America's most iconic — and beloved — public figures. (Non-fiction)
3. "The Last Odyssey," by James Rollins (William Morrow). The latest entry in Rollins' Sigma Force series kicks off in Greenland, where climatologists and archaeologists stumble on a medieval ship buried a half mile below the ice, containing tools of war dating back to the Bronze Age and a map indicating they are in a subterranean world called Tartarus, the Greek name for Hell. When word of Tartarus spreads — and of the cache of miraculous weapons said to be hidden there — tensions explode in this volatile region where Turks battle Kurds, terrorists wage war, and civilians suffer, triggering Sigma Force to enter the picture. 4. "1774: The Long Year of Revolution," by Mary Beth Norton (Knopf). The historian, a Pulitzer Prize finalist and 2018 president of the American Historical Association, looks at America's critical "long year" of 1774 and the revolutionary change that took place from December 1773 to mid-April 1775, from the Boston Tea Party and the first Continental Congress to the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Drawing extensively on pamphlets, newspapers, and personal correspondence, Norton reconstructs colonial political discourse as it happened. (Non-fiction)
5. "Do Morals Matter?: Presidents and Foreign Policy from FDR to Trump," by Joseph Nye Jr. (Oxford University Press). The former dean of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government analyzes the role of ethics in U.S. foreign policy during the American era after 1945. He works through each presidency from FDR to Trump and scores their foreign policy on three ethical dimensions of their intentions, the means they used, and the consequences of their decisions.
